CandyLoverThe Chocolate Atlas

Most of Belize's cacao is grown by Maya families in the Toledo district in the far south, often in mixed forest gardens rather than plantations.

Belize has a special place in British chocolate history. In 1994 a chocolate bar made with Toledo cacao became the first product in the UK to carry the Fairtrade mark — the start of a movement that now covers much of the chocolate you can buy. Belizean bars tend to be mellow, fruity and nutty.
