Almost all of Cuba's cocoa grows around Baracoa, on the country's remote, rainy eastern tip, where mountains and heavy rainfall suit the trees far better than the rest of the island.
Production is small and exports are limited, which makes Cuban single-origin chocolate a rarity. It is often described as warm and spicy, with notes of honey and even tobacco.
